Here we are again, at the end of one year and the beginning of another. How has the past year been for you? Perhaps you are glad to see the back of it because of unhappy memories of events that occurred in the last twelve months? Certainly many people seem to make a big thing of the change in the calendar from 31st December to 1st January.
But what has the Bible to say on such things? The book of Lamentations is not generally seen as encouraging, but look a little deeper and you find the following:
Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:
The faithful love of the LORD never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3 vv. 21-23
It doesn’t really matter what date the calendar shows because God’s love never changes. Every morning is the same to him – one where he shows faithful mercy and love to those who trust in Him.
So I’m going to try to remember first thing every morning in 2015; that God’s mercies are freely given and His faithful love never ends.
Perhaps you might like to make a point of reminding yourself of this every morning too.
